About Us
The Odd Puppet collective was created out of a shared love of the unexpected worlds that puppetry can reveal to audiences and performers. The original Odd Puppets met in 2013 and formed the collective in 2014. They brought a diverse set of backgrounds and their interests in clown, mask, Theatre of the Oppressed, vaudeville and spectacle of all kinds into the creation and production of a show they created and performed for the Midland Butter Tart Festival. The founding members of the Odd Puppets have scattered with the four winds, but the collective remains and is open to members and collaborators.
The Odd Puppets seek to produce live performances that observe the often overlooked wonders our world has to offer and to use the performance space to bridge theories of cognitive psychology, sociological anthropology, international development, and community education with the cultural language of artistic creation. We are also available for workshops and other learning and research initiatives.
